Juho Kupsala
Hi,
My name is Juho Kupsala and I live in Raahe, Finland in a small town named Olkijoki. I was born here in Olkijoki in the year 1992. I have tied flies sence the spring 2006.
I'm one of the active member on this site and I keep this forum one of the best, because of it's members and atmosphere..
I have fished sence I was a little kid but flyfishing started little later than tying.. Yes, I started tying before flyfishing. But I'm not worried, I have plenty of time to learn. Usually I fish grayling, trout, pike and perch. Nowadays I'm getting more and more into salmonfishing. Hopefully I'll hook the first one next season. My homeriver is Olkijoki and every summer I fish for trout and grayling over there. In the beginning of summer, I usually fish pikes for few weeks also. As the summer goes on, perch comes to my schedule. Usually I fish perch from a little lake called Hummastinjarvi, it's full of perch and there are no other species around.. Then there is ofcourse these salmonfishing trips to Norway and northern Finland.
When I started tying flies it was very hard, because there was nobody to teach me. I learned by my self, step-by-step, and created my own way to tie flies and it has turned out quite well i suppose. I always tie concentrated and do the best I can. I like tying a little more complex flies than normal, like Classic wet-flies, Dry-flies, Allsorts of Salmon flies and Streamers. Usually I invent my on recipes but I do tie known ones too. I have some own techniques and i like using them. Someone else might have invented them before and I haven't just heard..
Tying competitions? Yes, I have tried two times without luck and skills (in the beginning).. I hope someday I can win FTOTY, Mustad Scandinavian Open or FQSA someday, thats my goal, and that's why I keep on trying.. Also I will someday try my luck in Finnish Championship, which I find very high-class. I hope you will hear more of me soon!
Best Regards
